The Maltese climate is typically Mediterranean and you can usually look forward to very hot summers and mild winters. The islands are very sunny, with around six hours of sunshine during the winter months, and 12 hours during the summer.
Winters are mild, with chilly periods, sharp winds and sporadic rainfall. Summers are hot and dry, with temperatures often soaring to 40 degrees Celsius during the hottest months of July and August.
Malta is popular for its winter sunshine, and people have been known to swim in the sea well into October and November, and as early as April.
